Charity gifts?

Is this just like giving no gift? I sometimes wonder if i should donate my own money to charity and a gift is like donating someone else's.

I was thinking specifically for DCs teachers.
There is a class collection but our local community isn't very wealthy and this is a tough year so i though this might be a nice idea. There is a local charity doing donation type gifts for homeless young people.
I generally find the big collections for teachers these days a bit odd -even though I love DCs school and the teachers are great.

Id be very happy if someone made a worthy donation instead of giving me a gift 🤷 it'd be my preference.

Me too. But i'm still torn between including the charity gift or just sending nice cards.

I think charity gifts are fine for friends and family. For a teacher (or employee of any sort) I would probably just send a nice homemade card instead.

I'm not sure why I feel the distinction but for some reason I do.

Mary's Meals have an option where you can donate in your teacher's name.
