Signed for or special delivery?

We need to return some tickets and the company says send by special delivery. I assume that’s because they are then insured to some extent by the Royal Mail but it’s around £10 to do so.

Does anyone with inside knowledge know how secure signed for mail is? And would unscrupulous workers be as likely to nick one than the other type (as the addressee will presumably give them a clue as to the contents)?

Special del is for valuable things...like tickets (assuming they are transferable). Signed for is for low value things where you need to prove receipt eg final demands, Court letters.
