Recovering from knee arthroscopy - any experiences?

Posting here for traffic.
I had knee arthroscopy surgery 1 week ago to tidy damaged cartledge and torn meniscus. I have arthritis in kneecap too which they said they cant help with.

The information and leaflets I was given suggest its a shortish straightforward recovery, not that painful etc.

I am a week on. Still got massively swollen knee, v painful, can't weight bear without considerable pain. Am hobbling round, can't drive. Still on big painkillers.

Has anyone else had this procedure and can remember what their recovery was like?

I had both knees done at once a few year's ago. I recovered very quickly and was walking well within a few weeks. Perhaps I was lucky? Sorry to hear that you are still in pain.

My DM had it done in her 60's. From what I remember she was back to almost normal after a week. She used to sit with frozen peas on at night to bring the swelling down.

I also had this done 30 years ago(!) to release a tight bursa
As I remember it was a quick recovery, needing simple painkillers and I was able to walk within a week
Could you ring your GP as they would have your discharge summary by now
Wishing you well

I had the same as you a few years ago. I don't remember much about the recovery which suggests it was pretty easy and straightforward. It was a whole year before I could kneel on it though. (Church-going Catholic!)
Hope it starts to improve soon.
