How do you go about changing pharmacy?

Apologies, this seems to be one of those questions a grown adult should know...
I have a weekly repeat prescription which in theory I call through on a monday and pick up on a Wednesday. However the pharmacy are useless. Actually useless is paying them a compliment (and this isn't just me, theres 65 google reviews agreeing with me).
Do I contact the surgery? Or the pharmacy? (Which is difficult as I've called them 8 times today and they've either picked up and put it down or its rang out). Or can i go direct to a different pharmacy and ask if i can be registered there?
Sorry for the seemingly obvious adulting question!

If your scripts are sent electronically from the GP to the pharmacy then you just need to call the GP and they can change the destination nomination.

Yes just speak to GP receptionists. You could also consider some of the online pharmacies who deliver to your door if that would help?

Thank you! I'm able to pick up, so dont want to waste resources. And theres another pharmacy which has much better reviews only a further 5 mins away.
Wasnt sure as GP Surgery has recorded message saying to contact pharmacy about repeat prescriptions, but guess that's just ordering them?

Yeah at the surgery I work for it takes about 2 seconds to change it. The system has a national list of pharmacies which are signed up to receive electronic scripts.

PointlessAnswer · 30/11/2020 18:48

You can also change your nominated pharmacy using the NHS App if you are signed up (and you can order your repeat prescription using the app as well).

MrsTwitcher · 30/11/2020 18:48

Can you email your dr surgery if you cannot get through on the phone or write a letter

Coldemort · 30/11/2020 18:55

Theres no option to email, and I cant really write for a weekly prescription.
I end up going in person, but last time I qued for over half an hour outside. The sensible thing would be to let me order next weeks as I pick up this weeks, but for some reason they wont.
I'd understand if they were busy, but they're really not. They're slow and rude. I was there once at 5pm (they shut at 6) and the member of staff just said 'I'm off now' and left me waiting 10 mins until someone took over. 2 members of staff are particularly unpleasant and I've heard them making disparaging remarks about customers before.
One girl is lovely, it must be such a toxic atmosphere for her to work in.

I meant write to request a change of pharmacy. Is there an email address for the doctors secretary or the practice manager

Coldemort · 30/11/2020 19:16

Ah, sorry! Theres no problem getting through to my GP and they're usually really helpful so will try them tomorrow x
