What shape is 'the purple one'?

Quality street obviously! I'm making some giant 3D models of quality street, as you do, and I just can't work out how to make a purple one? Obviously we have had to do lots of research, so I know what it LOOKS like, I just can't work out how to make it? I tried to search for a printable net for it, but I don't even know what it's called?! A sort of oval based prism?

Yes, I thought oval based prism, though not sure that's a thing. Then I thought it's kind of shaped like a straight Brazil nut, and upon googling it, I find that it used to have a Brazil nut centre. Try going for a giant Brazil nut shape and adjusting it?

JetBlackSteed · 29/11/2020 20:59

Is it not just a right angled triangle, but more rounded? Sorry, I don't know the words for a rounded off triangle Grin

ReturntoSpamfritters · 29/11/2020 20:59

Also doesn't the chocolate have those little markings along its edges like Brazil nuts in their shells have?

ReturntoSpamfritters · 29/11/2020 21:00

The word for a rounded off triangle is toblerone

smeerf · 29/11/2020 21:01

Brazil nut shaped, isn't it?

FlibbertyGiblets · 29/11/2020 21:02

A hemi ovoid.

Clarabellawilliamson · 29/11/2020 21:10

@FlibbertyGiblets yes or a sort of hemi elipsoid shape, but it has an edge on the top too. Thanks for all the Brazil nut references, I want to know what that shape is called too though! If someone could show me how to make one two feet long out of cardboard too I would love them forever! 😂

Brazil nut shaped because they did indeed used to contain a Brazil nut....

Cardboard with some papier-mâché overlay for the edges perhaps?

Clarabellawilliamson · 29/11/2020 21:23

Yeah, I think we are going to go down the moulded route now...... the other shapes are easier but this is the iconic one!!

Inspiration here???

I think we need to know the backstory tho, just, you know, to help with the shape identification......

ReturntoSpamfritters · 29/11/2020 21:47

I reckon its a Nativity play

Clarabellawilliamson · 29/11/2020 22:11

It's for a community arts winter windows trail. Not going to lie, I'm quite proud of this effort! That tiny thing on the left is an actual size for comparison!

Next up is the toffee finger and the green triangle..... maybe tomorrow though!

Do they not contain a Brazil nut now? What is inside them, then? And why are they still Brazil nut shaped?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 29/11/2020 22:18

I assumed it was a Brazil nut in its shell

APurpleSquirrel · 29/11/2020 22:41

They're now a hazelnut in caramel aren't they? Never knew they used to contain Brazil nuts.

InTheLongGrass · 30/11/2020 07:10

WOW. That's fabulous, and very definitely a purple quality street.
The finger and triangle should be a breeze in comparison.

BarbaraofSeville · 30/11/2020 07:18

Wow, that's very impressive. I thought the picture was a close up of the real thing until I saw your post and the scale of the tiny real one next to it and your lovely flooring.

It's probably too much to ask you to risk your anonymity by saying where this will be displayed, because I'd love to see it in real life.

ApolloandDaphne · 30/11/2020 07:48

Well done. That looks amazing.

NamedyChangedy · 30/11/2020 08:11

That's amazing OP, so accurate!

fussychica · 30/11/2020 08:30

Brilliant job!

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 30/11/2020 08:38

I’d eat that...

FlibbertyGiblets · 30/11/2020 08:49

Super job, well done you.

AdaColeman · 30/11/2020 08:56

Fantastic job OP!

Clarabellawilliamson · 30/11/2020 18:25

Thanks everyone! I'll update when we've made the others...
