A&E help - waiting on a prescription

Last night DH became unwell. We called NHS 24 at 8 pm and he was given an OOH appointment at 1.20 this morning. He text me at 3 to say they think he’s got a tear in his bowel and may need surgery. 5.30 am he appears home saying they can’t do surgery because of the location of the tear and because he’s got diarrhea. He was to go back in at 9 am where he will get a prescription and a further check over. Meanwhile, he looks gray and is in agony. They gave him an antiseptic gel to insert but it’s not helping.

He got back to the hospital at 9.20 am. They then said he was told the wrong time for the pharmacy opening and that it will be 10 am and it could take several hours to get his prescription. He was then left despite telling staff he was in pain. He soiled himself so came home for a shower. I called them myself and they said they’ve done what they can but it could be 3 pm or later before the prescription comes through. He’s pacing the floor in agony.

I’ve said I’ll take him back but he says he will just be left as he was and he’d rather be home closer to a bathroom.

Has anyone with any experience know if this is right. I suppose it is as the staff wouldn’t lie but I am a bit lost as to why they are leaving him in so much pain. Help!

I should say OOH transferred him to a&e on arrival and they sent him home.

Can you phone 111 for advice?
