Someone one my Facebook is calling this lockdown ‘locky d 2.0’ 😖 what’s that all about??

Rona doesn't bother me.

Like someone unthread said it's like saying flu.

Flu jab.
Rona jab.

Like easy to say and harmless.

Locky D 2.0 just seems odd to me.

I guess bubonic plague could have been Buddy?! Bobby?

As to what this will be referred to in history. I assume COVID pandemic?

Although I think trump will try and get it called Wuhan Virus.

Chinese COVID? That's in-line with Spanish flu thinking.

Iwantacookie · 29/11/2020 12:21

Locky d just makes me want a maccy d Grin

WorraLiberty · 29/11/2020 12:30

It's Sunday

Is anyone having a Roasty D? 🤣🤣

Smallsteps88 · 29/11/2020 12:32

I bet these are the same people who say their child with chicken pox has got “the pox” Hmm

mogloveseggs · 29/11/2020 12:32

@Footle

Bubba? Touch of the bonics?
Grin
ADelicateFlower · 29/11/2020 12:33

It’s brought up all sorts of cringey vocabulary & clichés.

“Rolling out the vaccine” makes me think of a big cheese competition.

Ginfordinner · 29/11/2020 12:34

No-one I am friends with does this.

ReefTeeth · 29/11/2020 12:35

In Aus it's 'iso' for lockdown.

Said as in isolation but have also heard i-so- lonely.

Makes sense to me as an Aussie 🤐

Nackajory · 29/11/2020 12:35

Aaargh! Hadn't heard that one.

TwentyViginti · 29/11/2020 12:43

Face coverings - guvmuzzles Grin

TizzDeSeason · 29/11/2020 12:48

I wouldnt us these phrases myself but I find them mildly amusing.

‘Locky D’ actually mad me giggle but I expect that effect would soon wear off if people started using it all the time.

‘Covidiots’ already seems rathe dated!

x2boys · 29/11/2020 12:49

Not as bad as plandemic or scamdemic

DoveGreylove · 29/11/2020 12:52

Look at "Hunsnet" on instagram. Some people are just taking the piss. It's quite funny

TwoZeroTwoZero · 29/11/2020 13:03

I call it the 'Rona 🤷
I don't say locky d 2 though!

maddiemookins16mum · 29/11/2020 13:05

Never seen anything like this at all.

x2boys · 29/11/2020 13:06

I did see someone on my local newspaper website refer to Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance as Witless and unbalanced that made me giggle .

Chamonixshoopshoop · 29/11/2020 13:06

I dont mind rona.
HATE maccy ds, cheeky nandos, holibobs... but I don't mind rona!

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 29/11/2020 13:10

I hate 'Rona.

Especially The Rona along with The pox,The baba. I think it's,to me, a slobby way of talking that denotes someone hard of thinking.

Sorry Twozerotwozero!

Luxy · 29/11/2020 13:19

I've been calling it 'lockdown 2 electric bugaloo' but only in my head, I'm hoping I haven't said it out loud☺

EmilySpinach · 29/11/2020 13:26

I'd still love somebody to explain to me why 'rona is unacceptable compared to its etymologically identical cousin 'flu.

I also don't really understand the MN hatred for lighthearted use of 'the pox'. Chicken pox may not be the pox but it is a a pox, and probably the only one that any of us routinely come into contact with these days. Unless pp are suggesting that using the definite article will make people think that a six-year-old has syphilis, of course.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 29/11/2020 13:42

Sorry Twozerotwozero!

I call my children by their names and they had chicken pox when they were little.

Calling Covid 19 "the 'Rona" makes it seem less scary and serious. Dh and I use the term jokingly: when we've been to the shop for example we'll say, "Don't bring 'Rona home with you!"

FunTimes2020 · 29/11/2020 14:41

@myhobbyisouting

I hate "sets my teeth on edge" but it always appears on these threads
Me too...and "grinds my gears" HmmGrin
x2boys · 29/11/2020 16:09

Not as bad as Boils my piss which is just vile .
