Stockings for older dc?

When do you stop? Not an issue yet as dc are 6, 12 and 15 so obviously Father Christmas still comes to keep up the ruse for the little one. I hope they'll still want one until they leave home, I love doing the FC stocking!

I have made one for my dad and he is in his late 70s.

NameChangePropertyAdvice · 29/11/2020 08:07

Not sure, but I'm 49 and still enjoy mine Grin

whatswithtodaytoday · 29/11/2020 08:09

I had one until I left home (properly, not just for uni/shared house after), and my mum still buys me 'stocking bits' now but without the stocking as she likes finding them throughout the year.

Our family do them for all ages, adults included.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/11/2020 08:12

When they no longer spend Christmas 'at home'. Then hopefully they will have someone else to do it for them.

I love stockings. We all get them in this house.

Juanbablo · 29/11/2020 08:48

I still got one on my last Christmas at home when I was 18. I will keep doing them for my children as long as they want to spend Christmas with us.

Fifthtimelucky · 29/11/2020 09:56

Mine are in their early 20s and still get them!

M0mmyneedswine · 29/11/2020 10:04

For as long as mine are at home i will do stockings

PhantomErik · 29/11/2020 10:07

I think probably while they live at home they get a stocking.

AlwaysLatte · 29/11/2020 10:08

We do a stocking for everyone sleeping in the house on Christmas Eve.

Santaisironingwrappingpaper · 29/11/2020 10:09

Kids should wear tights there’s no need to sexualise their hosiery

Agwen · 29/11/2020 11:23

Anyone who stays over on Chrismas Eve gets one.

I would say stop when they are about 80.

I've never had a stocking so have never done one for dd.

Empra123 · 29/11/2020 11:27

Mum gets one. She's 91! So do we all. Love doing the stockings

TonTonMacoute · 29/11/2020 11:43

I still do one for DS, he's 21. I enjoy doing it, it's mostly chocolate and little things I pick up during the year.

Horsemad · 29/11/2020 12:03

I've said I'm not doing them this year, mine are 23 & nearly 22.
I can barely summon up the energy to think what to buy for their under tree gifts, without thinking of stuff for stockings, so have called a halt to it.

EggBobbin · 29/11/2020 12:23

I remember my brother demanding to know my mother’s total gift budget for him and requesting she got him a PS game he wanted, a t shirt and use the remaining money on his stocking. I’ve no idea why she put up with it, he would have been about 17 I suppose?
