What was this children’s book?

Trying to remember title or author of this children’s book - does anyone remember it?

Story is that a boy touches an Aga(?) and falls back in time to the early 1800s where he is a kitchen boy, and the other servants / farm hands are joining / organising an illegal union. I think one of them ends up being transported.

I loved a time travel book when I was young. But not sure if I'm just imagining your description as a mishmash of Tom's Midnight Garden and Moondial.

Though the going back as a kitchen boy bit is ringing some very faint bells.
