Trying to work out what to put Ds In
yester the temp in his room was down to 17 by morning and is currently 18 at the moment so already colder than this time last night so I figured he needs more clothes tonight.
He's in a sleepsuit without feet with a short sleeved vest underneath and has a blanket over him which I'm about to switch for a sleeping bag but can't work out which tog
The guidance seems different depending on where I look!

What do you put your baby in at this temp? He's 10 months old

I'd say 2.5tog for that temperature

MooChops89 · 27/11/2020 22:32

I have my 5 month old in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag, long sleeve vest and babygrow - our room gets quite cold and he wakes up if he's cold.

2.5 tog at that temp. Would also say socks too.

Thank you I always worry about overheating! But I guess it's really only an extra chest layer to what he's normally been wearing and it's colder tonight
I do have a merino sleeping bag somewhere which is supposed to be suitable for all temps but it's so thin and he often wakes up cold when wearing it so I'm not convinced!

Definitely 2.5 tog.

Dennisreynoldsduster · 27/11/2020 22:36

Thank you! It threw me because the guidance says single layer - sleepsuit with a 2.5 tog and I've got him in vest and sleepsuit

Glad everyone says 2.5 tog though I'm bloody freezing and about to get under my massive winter duvet with the electric blanket on

long sleeve vest, pyjama and 2.5 tog sleeping bag.

On top of that a baby blanket when it got freezing outside and the thermometer kicked back on around 15 degrees.

Thanks reluctant I've dug out the merino bag but it's so thin and recommends two long sleeved layers and I don't want to have to change his suit and vest at this point as it will wake him up!

I think I'll stick with the short sleeved vest, sleepsuit (it's flannel-y and not super thick) and pop the 2.5 sleep bag on and hope he doesn't get too hot (I'm so paranoid about it!)

By morning I think it will easily be down to 17 as it's already 18 in his room

I think the guidance is different on all of the brands which doesn’t help. Remember he slept through the heatwave this summer... they appear to be more resilient to temperature then we are scared into believing x

Dennisreynoldsduster · 27/11/2020 23:00

That's very true Reese! While I've been posting on here DH has gone and put him in the merino bag so we shall see if he wakes in the early hours. According to DH merino is used as a breathable layer when skiing so should keep him toasty without overheating

Thanks for all the advice if he wakes in the early hours I'll switch him to the 2.5tog and hope he goes back to sleep. I find temperature things so stressful!
