DSD has a Topshop voucher for Christmas.

If the administrators are called in, can it still be used?

Wondering if we should give it to her early!

Oh not them too.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 27/11/2020 15:23

Spend them now.

halcyondays · 27/11/2020 15:25

Better use them now I think.

cliffdiver · 27/11/2020 15:29

I agree, we'll try and get it to her so she can spend it on Tuesday when they reopen.

I agree to spend it now.

Martin Lewis advised caution over vouchers, because who knows how many companies won’t survive. Don’t think he had Top Shop in mind. Spend now.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/11/2020 15:34

Sorry but it might be too late by Tuesday (If you're talking about post lockdown, that's Thursday anyway).

But that's if Topshop do go bust and close completely. Which isn't certain to happen. Many shops have been reporting as being 'on the brink of collapse' over the last few years and a lot of them are still trading in various guises including accepting gift vouchers.

But it does illustrate the point that its a bad idea to buy gift vouchers for businesses that have been affected by the pandemic, especially if they weren't in a great place financially anyway, especially such as chain restaurants and retail. The whole lot is propped up by alarming amounts of debt and it only takes their bank refusing to renew or extend a credit facility to tip them over the edge.

peachypetite · 27/11/2020 15:35

You can usually use gift vouchers online

Porgy · 27/11/2020 15:37

I would spend the vouchers now. Even if you buy something that's not suitable, you can sell it on Ebay etc.

cliffdiver · 27/11/2020 15:42

Oh online is a good shout! I didn't realise they could be used online.

If they go into administration would the order be fulfilled though?

I've just posted something back to Topshop for a refund and am hoping I get the money back! I agree, I'd get your dsd to spend voucher asap.

halcyondays · 27/11/2020 16:16

If anyone has any vouchers kicking around for other shops in the Arcadia group, such as Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge they should dig them out. Arcadia has a website which lists all their brands.

cliffdiver · 29/11/2020 10:07

DSD spent the voucher online yesterday.

Fingers crossed the clothes get delivered.
