Teens in wrong crowd

Anyone who had a teen who was on the rebellious side and part of the wrong crowd ( disruptive at school rather than smoking,drugs and alcohol, so not so bad) and turned out to be a lovely mature and level headed adult?
My teen is 14 and I worry. Is there a chance that this is just a phase and they'll grow out of it and mature or do children who show rebellious tendencies turn into adults who make dubious choices?

I was that teenager (only a couple of years ago!), and I'm mature, have a new group of friends etc, never did me any harm!

I was also that teenager. I used to hang about in big groups of about 15 every night, drink every weekend, skip school and get up to all sorts of mischief. The group gradually dispersed as we got older and the majority of us have turned into successful mature adults. There are a few who still live their lives like they are teenagers but for most it just seemed to be be a phase that lasted from about 14-19.
