Helmet for dc - size up?

DC has a big head for his age. I've measured it and it is 52 cm. He is not quite 3 yo. I want to get him a helmet for his new balance bike at Christmas, but the sizes go up to 52 cm and then 53 cm +. Would you size up?

They often have Velcro padding inside so I’d go up a size.

I think helmets are one of the few things you need to buy to fit, not to grow in to

Are you sure about the size? My medium sized adult women's cycle helmet is 54-60 cm, so that would make your 2 YO have the same sized head as a small adult woman.

Helmets are one of those things where you really have to try them on as some fit certain head shapes better than others, so it's hard to say which of the 'up to 52' or '53 and above would fit him, if either. Are there other brands available that might have a different range?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure... he does have a big head! His big sister is over three years older than he is. I measured her head and it's 49 cm, which would be about right for her age. So I don't think it's me measuring wrong...

Oh hang on, I've done it twice more and got 51 cm.

I'll go for the smaller one then. I don't imagine his head will grow that much anytime soon?
