Where to park for Hampstead Heath on Sunday

I normally take the train, but this time we need to drive - I imagine the car parks will be rammed. Does anyone know which streets, if any, are good for parking nearby?

Why do you need to drive? Park near Golders Green and take the 210 bus.

I need to drive because I am passing on an armchair - it's just not public transport friendly!

I have visions of the armchair in the middle of the heath by one of the ponds!

Sorry I cannot help given I always go there by bus.

The Premier Inn you can pay in advance it cost us £11 all day

The man entrance near Kenwood house might have spaces especially if weather is bad

But if you’re passing on an armchair, wouldn’t it be easier to do it on the relevant street or in a less crowded area?

PullTheBricksDown · 27/11/2020 13:13

How are you going to get the armchair from a nearby street to its destination? Are you going to carry it to the heath and hand it over there?

AcornAutumn · 27/11/2020 13:15

There’s a surrealist painting just waiting to happen here. 😂

I saw a painting of an armchair when on holiday in Madrid a few years ago.

This reminded me,

Smile The ultimate location of the armchair is Harrow, but since the future keepers of the armchair are meeting me for a walk on Hampstead Heath, we are planning to hopefully park in the same place, exchange custody of the armchair, and then go for a walk.

The armchair will not be alarmed at being left in the back of a Volvo - it's an Ikea Flen (discontinued about 20 years ago) which has moved house many times. We certainly won't be plonking it out on the heath!

Depends on your route

You might find easier to do the chair swap somewhere en route eg a residential road in Golders Green, then go for your walk and park wherever you can.

PrincessLuna · 27/11/2020 18:12

Park on the road up near kenwood house - no need to pay for parking. If it’s busy you might have to park down one of the side streets but won’t have to go too far. (Unless of course you’re carrying an arm chair...)

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/11/2020 18:17

Thanks PrincessLuna - are those streets free from restrictions on Sunday?

Parking for the heath by West Hampstead station is never busy

nosswith · 27/11/2020 18:49

It would be easier to meet and park by Gladstone Park.
