Hi, my Dad recently relocated to Spain and I would love any recommendations for website where I can buy in English with my UK credit card and they will ship directly to Spain. The post office in my village is open such odd hours the thought of trying to post something makes me cry!

Thanks!!

Most online stores do international shipping. What do you want to buy him?

BarbaraofSeville · 27/11/2020 08:53

Tradeinn shops have a wide range of clothes, accessories, technology and sporting goods across its various trading brands and ship all over Europe. I've bought a few things from them.

That’s the other killer question!

I usually got him an M&S Christmas arrangement, like a mini tee or wreath, but can’t see international shipping available for those. So something similar?

You can also use google translate to convert Spanish websites to English and pay in euro with a UK credit card - there's usually just a small percentage added to the conversion fee and not all cards charge this anyway.

El Corte Ingles is often described as 'the Spanish John Lewis' so perhaps they have something suitable?

Or if you want to post him something from M&S, can you use another Post Office (many are now in newsagents and have much longer opening hours) or get it collected? The Post Office now collect from your door for a small fee, I don't know if this includes international deliveries, look on their website.

Amazon is the obvious one, but many websites ship to Europe. I find a lot of Spanish websites are crap so I don't usually bother with them.

nobeer · 27/11/2020 09:04

Haha I was going to suggest M&S because I keep seeing adverts for them on Facebook (I live in Spain). Maybe wreaths and tree arrangements don't travel well. Maybe interflora? I've just looked at the El Corte Inglés website on my phone but there doesn't seem to be an option to change language. This www.dunnesstores.com/ does international delivery. No idea if they do what you want though. And they have a store in Malaga if that's any good to your dad.

Far better to buy from a website located in Spain and have it shipped domestically.

GreyishDays · 27/11/2020 09:05

Many Etsy sellers will. Just filter by those who ship to Spain.

It knows you're in Spain and assumes you can read Spanish.

I look at the El Corte Ingles website and it's all in English to me, because at some time in the past it's likely that I've told Google to always translate Spanish websites into English for me.

Teenytinyvoice · 27/11/2020 09:41

Thanks so much! Hadn’t thought of Etsy! That might be perfect. Will check out the other stores or the option to collect.

You could also look up florists near him, order by email and pay them with PayPal. They are likely to have an English speaker there, or run it through Google translate.
Or they might send you a payment link for card.
I do that when ordering overseas. Better value for money and keeping it local.

DianaT1969 · 27/11/2020 12:56

Interflora and similar services take a large commission from the florist. Resulting in a product which is poor value for money and you might encounter poor customer service because nobody "owns" responsibility.

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 27/11/2020 12:56

Next has a Spanish website, which we used to use a lot.

Sometimesonly · 27/11/2020 12:59

John Lewis - but they won't ship a lot of their Christmas decorations unfortunately.

Teenytinyvoice · 27/11/2020 14:14

Useful to know that John Lewis ship for other occasions!

I’m struggling a bit with the whole relocation thing and it’s a real help to hear other people’s solutions. COVID means it’s unlikely we will see each other in person for a long while!

Can you search locally for florists near him for wreaths, or shops that are local to him that would deliver?
I’ve done this with relatives in France and have paid over PayPal and also by international transfer.

Changedmynameagain1 · 27/11/2020 14:20

I also use Amazon a lot, and filter for international.
There is also a Spanish version of Amazon
