There is zero point to this thread but I’ve just heard The Tornados - Telstar. I’ve listened to it on and off for years (I’m 45) and for some reason it makes me feel emotional but I wouldn’t even able to describe the emotions. Does anyone know what I mean and have music/songs that affects them like this?

Maybe nostalgia thinking about it.

It was on my Dads mixed tape that we always played on car journeys, takes me right back

@OnceUponAMidnightBeery my Dad always loved a mix tape in a car journey too. I don’t my to listen to half as much music as I used to, I should make an effort to.

I understand OP, it's a very distinctive piece of music. It was played quite a lot in the 70s when I was a teenager, so perhaps you heard it played when you were a young child in the late 70s/early 80s, or it was used as background music to certain science fiction things on TV. For some reason I immediately think of fuzzy black and white pictures of the moon landing and rockets blasting off, each time I hear this music.

Many songs from my childhood days make me quite emotional these days, more so since my parents died.

I can totally understand your childhood songs making you more emotional @Defenbaker, I think the older I get mine do too. I’m sorry about your parents.

You’re right about Telstar being so distinctive too.
