Really struggling with ear infection

Just posting as feeling sorry for myself, had recurrent ear infections in my left ear. First went to GP in March before full lockdown and was referred to ENT to have my ear vacuumed which never happened due to COVID. It has been manageable since but a few days ago started with brown discharge and a feeling of wetness from the ear. Now in loads of pain all down my face and neck, feel completely deaf on my left side. Spoke to nurse via phone yesterday who said can’t prescribe otomize spray as not safe in pregnancy (currently 36+5) and would send anti biotics to chemist. Picked them up last night and they say to consult doctor before taking if pregnant so didn’t take as it was to late to speak to them. Been up for an hour already as cant lie on left side as pain is so bad and still have two weeks left of work (WFH thankfully) DS will be up in less than an hour so no point trying to sleep. Please send help 😩

Aargh. Sympathy! Before covid I did a lot of swimming and it gave me constant ear infections. I used to plead with the doctors to give me otomize which they don't like doing too much as it is steroid based. No help here but a hand hold. Ear infections are the worst.

It really is the pits, have got a hot flannel over my ear and feeling sorry for myself. Got a 3 hour zoom call from 9:30 seriously think I might have to pull out of it 😩

This may well be too late to help you this time OP but (for your future reference) private clinics offer ear vacuuming ("microsuction") and have treated me when:

  1. when I've had active infections and
  2. whilst pregnant.

I'm currently suffering from a left ear infection, with a four month old baby to like after, and it hurts a lot.
