How to find a cleaner without announcing it on facebook?

Just this... I don't want everyone to know I need a cleaner. I just can't cope with work and two kids under 4. I'm exhausted

Ask neighbors if they have any recommendations. Or call a local agency?

Pipandmum · 25/11/2020 21:50

I got mine through a friend. Ask around (though I only have actual friends on FB, so would ask there if need be).

Put an ad in a local paper with a new email address and ask for references

Gojetter95 · 25/11/2020 21:56

Join and take a look on your local village/town/city facebook page and type in cleaner in the top bar to search the posts and youll usually be able to find a recent post and be able to use the suggestions that people have made on someone elses request post, thats how I have found workmen etc in past without wanting to broadcast work I was having done in the house.

If you have a local Facebook group I'd search in there first, using the keyword 'cleaner'. In our one you'd get about 20 threads of recommended cleaners immediately!

P.S. OP there's absolutely no shame in having a cleaner. I had one when I lived with my DSis, and I still have one now I have a family, as I need one even more!

Cross-post Gojetter95!

I’m a cleaner and normally get new clients through word of mouth.
At the moment I clean for an elderly couple, their daughter and her family, and the daughters best friend.

Heartofstrings · 25/11/2020 22:03

Thank you all so much. I don't really want to tell anyone we are having a cleaner. We have a fair amount of debt but I'm going to take on some extra work to pay for it.

My eldest is going through an autism assessment and with covid their preschool attendance is shocking.

My house is gross

If you don't want local recommendations due to privacy, then use an agency.

Welshcorriefan · 25/11/2020 22:06

Search local groups for the word ‘cleaner’ to see previous recommendations.

Nextdoor app - it's brilliant

Gardenista · 25/11/2020 23:13

Next door app. Look at other people’s posts and you’ll get loads of numbers to call without doing your own post

Easttt · 25/11/2020 23:20

I second the Nextdoor App!
