Why is there so much singing going on in perfume ads?

They're weird at the best of times but there are two mad singing perfume ads I've seen in the last half an hour.

I hate perfume ads, there’s nothing clever about any of them.

I love the Gucci one

Most of my dreams are about as bizarre and non sequitur-ish as perfume adverts.

I like the Chanel one with Kiera Knightley running down a big empty Parisian street though.

They’re a crazy, crazy genre all of their own.

Like kitch but with more money and less taste.

The Jean Paul Gaultier one with the sailors and some of the world’s least convincing opera being lip-synced by models in pink basques sort of opening and shutting their mouths like sexy goldfish is spectacularly annoying.

I never really thought about it til now haha!

We do like Gagas one though for Valentino though, the song is originally a duet with Elton John
