Hi,

So I've always avoided social media in the past, but have recently given in, for various reasons. Mostly due to feeling left behind and so much seems to be done through Facebook, especially.

My question is, if I hide my friends list, will people still be able to find me easily? I changed it to "only me", under "who can view my friends list", but there was a warning about doing this, which tbh, I didn't really understand Confused

I don't want to shoot myself in the foot, as I would like to connect with people, but I am also quite a private person.

TIA

If you hide your friends list, it’ll stop people from being able to see who you are friends with. So Friend A wouldn’t be able to look through and see who else you’re friends with. It’s fine to put it as “only me”, if you want to.

It won’t affect people finding you, though.

@HopeAndDriftWood, thanks. So it wouldn't stop me being suggested as "someone you might know" then?

No it’s just stops friends you have linked up with seeing a list of who else you are friends with. Nothing else.

@Cakes4Teatime, thank you.

Can people see the number of friends you have? I Don really want people to see that either, given I've only just joined. I'll look like Billy no mates! Blush Grin

*don't

No, they can't see how many friends you have. Wouldn't matter anyway as it will say "member since 2020" so people would know that's why you have few friends.

PancakesandCoffee · 27/11/2020 09:29

Oh, ok - thanks @firesong. I thought there was always a number next to friends, regardless of your settings.

Just bumping this again, as apparently my account still shows the number of friends, just not the actual names. How do I hide this?
