TooGoodToGo - anyone tried it?

I’ve downloaded this app which lets you purchase food from local places at a fraction of the price to ‘save’ it from being thrown away.

Only thing is you don’t know what you’re getting until you’ve picked it up.

Anyone used it and have an opinion?

I used it once and wasn't impressed at all. Lots of rolls and bacon! But ny sister uses it regularly and manages to get lovely cakes, wraps and pastries etc

Pepperwand · 25/11/2020 19:27

Yes I've used it, only for the local Costa as we don't have many places round here. It was £3 and I usually ended up with a couple of paninis and a sandwich. Wouldn't rave about it but was glad to stop it going to waste and the kids were happy.

I think it depends on what you've got near you, my sister has a local carvery she uses it for and always looks amazing!

Thegreymethod · 25/11/2020 19:30

I've used to get a carvery type meal and it was really nice, only cost around £3 each for a full roast dinner.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 25/11/2020 19:33

We get costa, morrisons and a few independant shops round here, weve had some great fruit and veg baskets for £3

IsThisNameTaken · 25/11/2020 19:37

Have only used it a couple of times but had one amazing bag from Paul patisserie and one average bag from a local cake shop.

DiscombobulatedAf · 25/11/2020 19:44

I love that app! I’ve ordered a few things and have been impressed each time. I once got enough food for two meals for £2.50 😌

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 25/11/2020 19:47

I have the app but nowhere is available here at the minute.

When somewhere is available it's always Morrisons. I don't drive and our Morrisons is 4 miles away so not worth the hike.

I keep checking in the hope that somewhere nearer is available. I'd love a carvery place to come up

Belle1983 · 25/11/2020 19:47

I love it.
I regularly used it for a locally bakery and was always really happy with what I got.
Stopped for a while as I was getting too many pastries and cupcakes for my waistline to cope 😳

PixieDust28 · 13/06/2021 22:03

Sorry this is an old thread but interested to know if more people use it now?

Ours sell out really quickly.

Daily we have a few Costa's, greggs, M&S, Spar, BP.

I managed to get a Greggs and a Costa magic bag today.

Greggs had, donuts, gingerbread men, sandwich, sausage roll and a croissant for £2.90

Costa had a roll and four slices of cake for £3.

Rockbird · 13/06/2021 22:14

I get Greggs every so often and they're always really good for the price. One time I was even allowed to pick my items Grin

Bloodylovecheese · 13/06/2021 22:59

I've had a yo! Sushi...it was fantastic value anwe we got enough for dinner and lunch the next day.

Boobahs · 13/06/2021 23:06

I've been trying for months but have never managed to get anything. It all sells out within minutes, even if I keep refreshing the app Sad

Belle1983 · 13/06/2021 23:14

I still use it.
Depends what you like I guess.
There's loads of coffee shops near me, so usually they are easy to get stuff from.
Lola's cupcakes is usually quick to go.

Mauvg · 13/06/2021 23:16

I used it once but, living on my own, there was just too much for one person so ended up sharing with a neighbour. If I knew in advance that I'd be able to share with a neighbour, I'll use it again as it was good value.

Titsywoo · 13/06/2021 23:18

I tried once for the local m&s garage but got a load of stuff I wouldn't eat. I'd be more tempted for greggs or costa.

alexabbq · 13/06/2021 23:21

We get it regularly. The kids love the surprise factor and we all try new stuff. Win win.
