How to do a Zoom based family Quiz at Christmas?

My sister (77) has finally decided that she won’t visit her daughter and extended family this Christmas because niece is having the usual crowd to visit and my sister is still recovering from treatment for Bowel cancer. She’s been going to them every Christmas for the last 20 odd years, so is very disappointed at missing out, but she simply can’t risk catching Covid.

I live abroad and there’s only ever the 3 of us for Christmas, so this year won’t be any different for me.

However, I wondered about suggesting some kind of quiz where my sister and her daughter’s family could all actively join in online?
Sister has an iPad and occasionally uses FaceTime to chat to me so I’m sure using the technology won’t be a problem.

Can anyone point me in the direction of how these things work and make suggestions as to how to make it lots of fun? I think if I can sort something out, the niece will get her family involved too.

Or is it a daft idea?

When we do family quizes we use kahoot as the quiz platform and zoom for the conference call part. The quiz master sets up the questions and runs the quiz itself by sharing their screen on zoom. Players watch and chat through zoom but need a second device to actually input their answers through kahoot. It sounds more complicated than it is! I did a "how to" for some very non techy friends and would be happy to ok if useful.

We did this during the first lockdown.

Each person/couple came up with a round of 10 questions.

We had picture rounds, speciality rounds, family trivia rounds, ‘active rounds’ - ie you have 20 seconds to gather as many thing beginning with the letter ‘R’ or first person to get a stamp/post it note and hold up to the camera. 10 bonus points if you can do 5 press ups. Etc etc

Used Zoom.

Thank you both for replying. I’ve been looking into Kahoot and I’ll try a Practise run and see how it goes.

I like the idea of active rounds for my grandson. He’d enjoy that I’m sure. Grin
