Mother-in-law up for adventure. Father-in-law Me Traditional! Food related ...

I'm not sure if what I'm after actually exists but thought I'd throw this out there for anyone up for a challenge ...

My lovely mother-in-law likes a bit of variety with her meals. My father-in-law likes it plain and simple and isn't open to trying more adventurous cuisine.

To make it even harder, they're both very waste averse and thrifty and won't be up for cooking two separate dinners so mother-in-law is stuck with the plain and simple, not helped by the fact that DP is always telling her about the more adventurous cooking we do at home.

What I would like to do is to put together a little hamper for her with marinades, rubs etc so she can spice up her own food but not big bottles or jars as they won't be used up in time.

Any ideas or is she just condemned to a life of meat and two veg? ....

Thay sounds like a lovely idea.

If you have an Italian deli near you get het a jar of 'mostarda', it's fruit in a mustard sauce/syrup thing and it goes really nicely with a roast.

If you have a local Waitrose they have Filipino sauces and marinades (makes a change from Indian/Chinese/Thai)

Thank you Camomila. I do have a local Waitrose and this will give me the ideal excuse to pay them a visit 😁

I was hoping to concentrate on mother-in-law as she has Bisto aplenty in her cupboards for father-in-law. More than happy to make up a hamper myself if I can find the suitable stuff to go in it.
