11 plus results tomorrow. The fear.

A little thread for anyone wanting to chat about fears for tomorrow. I’m regretting putting DS through this and thinking how to frame the outcome to prevent him feeling a failure at 10 if it doesn’t go his way. (Totally accept general awfulness of the system and how it perpetuates social inequality etc and own the fact I’m selfish wanting him to go to a GS).

Which area are you? I am a y6 teacher on the edge of 2 grammar school areas. One area we had the results last week, the other I’m not sure when we get them. Maybe tomorrow?!

From a teachers point of view, I think it’s important if they fail to big up whichever other schools they will go to and the fact they’re likely to be at the top of that school. And don’t get their hopes up with talk of appeal...

Good luck @Lalalabrador

And completely agree with @modgepodge. Whatever the result it will be a good outcome because of all the extra study your son has done.

Thanks both. We’re West Kent near Tonbridge. I’m going to stock up on treats too and agree I’ve been careful to big up the alternative schools.

Hi there - same for us, worried, as is my DC, that they will fail and best friend pass. She had a sleepless night last night. I HATE THIS SYSTEM

I'm in NI, where the kids are sitting the tests after Xmas. It's a rubbish system, designed to turn kids off learning and make them feel shit about themselves. I'm going to be using this thread to pick up tips for when our results come out.

Good luck OP and anyone else waiting.

I really feel for you, this will be us in a few years time and I'm dreading the whole process.

I hope your back up school is 'ok', I know went our time comes we're going to have to look at private or a secondary school a long distance away as the local all boys comp is appalling.

Kent results normally come out around 4pm by email. Good luck!
