Is life better without social media?

I got rid of my Facebook and Instagram accounts last week and I haven’t missed it half as much as I thought I would. In fact I have slightly more time not constantly checking for updates or likes etc, and it’s quite refreshing to think over Christmas I won’t be depressed with loads of engagement and baby announcements, or have to feel the need to post family photos or anything of my kids opening their presents! I will record and take photos but it feels good to not think I’d be doing it just to share it.
What about you? Do you have Facebook? Or do you prefer not having it?

SM is a tool. Use it or misuse it. I have between 30 and 35 Facebook friends . All real life friends . A great way of staying in touch at a distance .

Only include those who add to your life

Like PP I only have about 20 friends on Facebook. I don't have the app so don't get notifications and only check every couple of days.
I noticed I was happier when I left Strava too as I wasn't wondering why my runs weren't getting kudos or feeling jealous of people who had time to do really interesting cycle rides.

Oh god I hate social media . I can just about tolerate WhatsApp and mn Grin

Facebook turns me into Debbie Downer so I got rid of it and am much happier not knowing what my cousin had for tea, or what my neighbour thinks of Trump or my colleagues Xmas tree and glass of wine looks like Hmm

You can keep in touch and send photos via email.

I have never really used social media. I have Facebook but just use it for interest groups. I never post anything and most of my 'friends' are muted so I don't get the thrill of seeing what they had for dinner or the new handbag they just bought. Somehow I live without that information.

I got rid of fb... but I’m on mn much more now!

But I don’t get that nameless, weird unsettled feeling after going down some odd rabbit hole on Facebook. So I think getting rid of it is definitely a positive.

I am on Twitter but I am rubbish at it Smile
