Looking for a new duvet, I want something cloud like, soft...

I've been put of John Lewis in recent years we got what we thought was a quality duvet for dd in there, special offer and its crinkly and slightly smelly.

We got the Hungarian Goose Down 10.5 duvet last year from The White Company and it's amazing, like sleeping in a cloud. Was nice and cool over the summer and even now in the winter it keeps us nice and snug. Would recommend!

The Solihull branch told me anything over 6 months was fair wear and tear 😂.

Their pyjamas are good though. Apart from the second silk set I got when the arms wore away at the top in under a year & I need to get the arms altered to make them summer pj. The first sets still going strong though.

Cujo

I've never heard of soak and sleep before are the a reputable company? It's such a lot of money to spend.

Smelly, I think that's what I'm going for too. 80% down 20 feather?

Yes that's the one Ruby, we got ours in the Black Friday sale last year. I wouldn't get the higher tog as it keeps us really warm at the moment and our bedroom is freezing. I am a really cold person and DH is always hot and it seems to have suited both of us for the whole year.

TheRubyRedshoes · 24/11/2020 21:01

Thank you smelly, I'm also hoping for a black friday buy, although fluffy post is rather concerning!

Our white company one feels like silken clouds. It's so so so soft

FeelinSpendy · 24/11/2020 21:21

I’ve got the soak & sleep all seasons microfibres and silk duvet and also the mattress topper. Had them for 4 years (got them on Black Friday 2016 according to my email receipt!) and I still love them. I’d not really heard of them before I ordered but now I highly recommend.

TheRubyRedshoes · 25/11/2020 08:01

Thanks I've never heard of soak and sleep they seem t have tons of reviews but not much on wc.
I'm wondering how much they knocked off the duvets on bf

I can recommend Soak and Sleep.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/11/2020 09:04

Oh that’s not the half of it, I’ve been shopping with them for at least 20 years & have had loads of issues.

The sleeves on all my towelling dressing gowns shrank to bracelet length sleeves ☹️ The white waffle one is ok so far but I spilt foundation on it.

They refused to give me washing advice on a 13.5 tog duvet I bought off them years ago saying they’d never made such an item & nobody used more than 10.5 as it would be too warm to sleep under.

The mirrored placemats I bought scratched terribly with routine daily use. It’s not unreasonable to put a plate on a place mat is it?.

The stitching came undone on my slippers.

The onesie dh bought me was tissue paper thin, that got sent back.

My bath mat wasn’t rectangular it was skewing on one long side. Sent that back too.

I only buy the pj now and only cotton ones in the sale because no way was my last top worth £35.

I think they have a very inflated view of themselves, when they started the UK was still using Coloroll type patterns and matching the wall paper to the border to the curtains to the bedding. Crowson was very popular too and the idea of having all white perfectly ironed high thread count bedding was actually quite new outside of young yuppies living in Chelsea. I remember my mum reading through the catalogue for the first time and saying the idea was that everything should be white as being quite a novel idea.

Mind you I gave up on M&S years ago too as being overpriced tat that would be more hassle than it was worth too.

I’ve seen people on here with bad experiences with Jl on here too but I’ve had a lot of good buys with them.

TheRubyRedshoes · 25/11/2020 10:06

Thats awful fluffy - well I have gone with soak and sleep = I have never heard of them before but their products seem to have lots of good reviews?

White company was sold out anyway !
