What the hell can I use to get this off ds’s hands?

5 year old ds has come home with black “ink” over his hands.

He claims it’s ink from a felt tip pen, but soap and water, hand sanitizer and ever nail polish remover isn’t shifting it.

What else can I try?

Please don't use wash powder on him he is too little and it is generally too harsh. Don't worry about it too much, stick him in the bath to play for an hr or so for a couple of nights and it will eventually come off

Head and shoulders shampoo

MellowYellow101 · 24/11/2020 16:37

Make up remover?

PattyPan · 24/11/2020 16:39

I second Swarfega, it gets everything off!

BertieBotts · 24/11/2020 16:43

Just leave it. His night time sweat will probably take some of it off.

Alcohol gel

Suncream. Gets permanent marker off some stuff. worth a try?

Newnamenewopenme · 24/11/2020 17:00

Baby oil! I do triathlons and they regularly write our numbers on us with permanent marker and after a week of waking round with 69 on my leg someone suggested baby oil and it worked immediately

Better than the blue moustache I drew on our DD when she was about 8 days old.
Sharpie really is permanent

CorianderBlues · 24/11/2020 17:02

Fairy liquid and a teaspoon of sugar in the palm of the hands to act as a scouring agent. It won't be comfy but it will work.

Ah yes thank you. I had to use swarfega on dd's bum a few years ago. She had a swimming costume where the seams split and rubbed black glue all over her bum. Swarfega and a shower sorted it :) I did a spot test on dh first.

Alcohol-my niece, at 3, drew all over herself with felt-tip. We swabbed her with gin (didn't have anything less smelly) It got it off, but she smelled of juniper all day!

Cheap conditioner and a metric fuck tonne of sugar, scrub it all over his hands and it should help to exfoliate some of it off.

Failing that, miceller water? It managed to clean my hair dye off the shower floor so it might help!

Time!

BlackeyedSusan · 24/11/2020 19:40

Hand soap bar gets black pen off white shirts but it takes minimum of 30 minutes to soak.

Try some hand massage with it. Or play in the sink with soapy water and various plastic pots.

Soubriquet · 25/11/2020 16:13

Thought you would be pleased to know it mostly came off in his sleep and a hand wash got the remainder off this morning. Thank god
