Anyone know anything about Apple Music?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but am rubbish with this type of thing.

I bought an album a while back and all was fine however recently when I've tried to listen to it a few of the songs are missing? (Annoyingly 2 of my son's favourites that he keeps asking me to play 😭).

If I search for it in Apple Music store they come up as 'purchased' but there's no download button, does anyone know what's going on and how to get these songs back?

Also on the music app I can find them under the 'purchased' section but if I select the songs this comes up?
Does that mean I cannot listen to some of the songs I have purchased unless I pay for a monthly subscribtion?

Just incase anyone comes along to help, I've just deleted a load of other downloads from my library (incase there's a limit) but nothing changed..except I now have fewer songs 😫

Oh I am pretty sure you need to keep paying or you lose your music! I pay monthly and I remember once the payment didn't go through cos I lost that debit card and didn't update my payment card on Apple. I lost access to all my music until I sorted it.

tmmo · 24/11/2020 16:32

Thank you for replying!
The thing is, I've never subscribed to Apple Music before and have been able to listen to all my purchased music until now.

It's so strange, and tbh if they want me to pay monthly to listen to music that I've purchased they're having a laugh!

This happened with songs I have purchased on iTunes. I think I had multiple copies, and got very confused.

When I synced my iTunes music on my iPad from my laptop, which is not an Apple product, many of the songs were copied twice. This happened years ago. I decided to tidy up my music library on my iPad and del what I thought were duplicates. I am now missing the first song of an album. I think I will open a up,a chat with Apple and ask for help. I will get back to you with whatever my results are.

"You'll lose the Apple Music tracks you downloaded, but not individual purchases. Subscription music currently in your account is tied to your subscription. Once you cancel that subscription the music is no longer be available in your account. ... Yes, you will lose the music you downloaded.27 Oct 2016"
I don't know if that makes any sense?

Hello! I work in online music distribution. Apple music /iTunes is both streaming and download (purchase) as you purchased those track you should always ha en access to them regardless of your subscription status. I'd file a ticket with apple

Using chat, I was able to find the missing song. Apparently I had "hidden" it, (and many others 🤨). Hopefully this is the same thing that happened to you, OP.

Chat guy said I needed a computer to access this, so I guess not available on phone.
I used my PC to access my iTunes, went to
Account
My Account, on that screen,
Downloads and Purchases, and within that option Hidden Purchases, Manage.

I found my song, and unhid it. it appeared on my laptop and my iPhone!

The info above, is what I did. The guy in chat said that I would find "in the cloud" as an option under My Account, so your screen might be different.

I hope you find your missing music, OP. I am glad you posted this as it was the kick up the arse I needed to get back my song.

Thank you! I don't have a laptop anymore (I can't afford to replace my old broken one) so I hope it doesn't involve using a laptop/computer! Im glad you got yours sorted out though 😅

It's so strange as it was bought as an album and the rest of the music on there is playable apart from three songs!

Thank you, yes this was an album I purchased and all but 3 songs are available. I've never had a subscription with Apple Music so that hasn't changed. Do you know how I'd go about filing a ticket? I can't find any help on the music apps. I feel so dumb right now, I swear I'm not usually this bad Blush

@tmmo , the chat guy said I would need a computer and that he couldn't help with the music on my iPhone. That took care of itself once I had unhidden music on my laptop.

Do you have a friend who would let you access your iTunes account on their pc? You would need to download iTunes and log in, but once that was done, and you had unhidden everything you want, your friend could delete iTunes.

Still worth asking on chat, as you have paid for this music.

Andylion · 24/11/2020 18:37

Oh, for goodness's sake. I just googled and found this. Click on "View my account" and you will see hidden purchases. I guess the chat guy who helped me was new. I was able to see this on my iPad so you should be able to use your phone.

Andylion · 24/11/2020 18:39

That "for goodness's sake" was directed at both the chat guy, for not knowing this, and myself, for believing you had no way to control your purchases without a laptop.
Good luck!

timegoesbysoslowly · 24/11/2020 18:46

You can see hidden purchases on iPhone.

Open up iTunes Store app in iPhone, select music tab at bottom, then scroll down until you see Apple ID box, click on that, box should pop up, select view Apple ID. Log in and this should bring up your account, scroll down and you will see hidden purchases.
