Sainsbury's Christmas delivery slots

Is anyone having trouble booking their Christmas delivery slot with Sainsbury's?

I got an email last week stating that Christmas slots would open up from 22/11 for delivery pass customers, of which I am one. Tried to book today for 21/12, and got an error message basically saying that I'd already booked one Christmas slot and couldn't have another. Reader, I have no Christmas delivery slots booked.

I then called their help line, and the very nice and apologetic person said that it was a fault with their IT and he would raise it with their IT team, who would aim to get back to me within 48 hours. Well, in 48 hours, the slots I'm after will be taken!

Their Twitter has been of very little help, just people answering who haven't read the full thread if their answers are any judge. I have tried this on the website and the app (both on my phone and tablet). I have tried in a private browsing window on my browser. I don't believe that I'm the only person having this problem. I can't be, can I..?

Have you tried the app? I can book for 21st without issue (it did have to update earlier though).

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled?

Is there anything showing in your orders that shouldn't be there?

How annoying. Though it doesn't surprise me as their website / app are glitchy as hell.

Just to say you're not alone @PsychoSid I'm trying to book a slot for my mum and getting the same error message and I'm also waiting for the IT team. I've cleared cookies, tried different browsers, tried the app instead of the webpage but it still won't let me book a slot.

Well, there's my thread on Twitter from last night. I have to say, their Twitter team were spectacularly unhelpful. They weren't reading my tweets & seemed to just be giving me generic replies. I'm there @northcountrygi4 if anyone wants to have a look.

The Twitter team can be abysmal. Very evasive.

They do often put an announcement up if there's a widespread problem. How very weird.

Booked mine for 22nd no problem. I used Edge on my laptop rather than the app on my phone.

I have tried using Edge & I have tried using Chrome. I have tried in private browsing windows on both. I have tried deleting cookies & clearing caches until they are sparkling. I have tried the app, both on my phone & tablet. I have deleted & reinstalled the app several times on each.

I. Still. Cannot. Book. A. Fucking. Christmas. Delivery. Slot.

I am not a happy elf. The CEO of Sainsbury's him/herself had better hand deliver my shopping.

Finally! Got my slot, on the day and time I was after.

This all seems to have been unnecessarily complicated and stressful. And Sainsbury's still haven't admitted there was a problem.

@NoWordForFluffy Don't know really. Was it the social media campaign? Or their IT department pulling their finger out? Who knows? I suspect the problems may have lied with the fact that I have a regular delivery due on 30/11, & they hadn't set the system to ignore that when trying to book a Christmas slot. Anyway, all resolved for me, & hopefully everyone else having trouble. 😀

I'm not sure it's that, as I had one booked for 1st Dec and still managed to book.

Anyway...at least it's resolved! (What date did you go for?)

I wanted 21/12 & got 21/12. I'm a shift worker working pretty much up to Christmas Day & that was the best one for me.

I bet that's the least popular choice as it's a few days away. I booked the Tuesday overnight. It's our usual shopping day, so works well.

They don't do Christmas Eve, so I'd think midnight tonight might be a bun fight for 23rd!

It's just worked for my mum as well. We had no delivery slots booked at all and I'd tried all the same things as @PsychoSid.

@AliCas I reckon the amount of people complaining must have spurred their IT bods into action. I'm certain that the small sample I saw on Twitter wasn't the entire scope of the problem.
