18th birthday present

Hello,
It is my God daughter's 18th birthday on Christmas Eve. I am intending to give her some money for Christmas, so I would like to buy her a proper present for her birthday. She is a brilliant young woman who deserves a lovely present. She is not really into clothes and make up. She intends to study a science subject at university. Neither she or her mum have any idea what she would like.

I have spent hours trawling the internet looking for ideas.

She sounds lovely Op how about a lovely pen ..I mean a proper one like a Montbalnc one or similar.Or a gift experience of a special day out or lunch at the Ivy or somewhere special for just the two of you to look forward to ... Or driving lessons maybe? or a lovely necklace or bangle..maybe if you have a look on not on the high street , com you might get some more ideas for unusual and different gifts? Sounds like you have a lovely relationship maybe even a photo album of your special times together over her life time copied and uploaded on a digital photo frame?

What’s your rough budget?

I'd be looking at something she will find useful at Uni but equally something that she can cherish.
