Help - calling parents whose dc have done LAMDA exams post Grade 6

I'm in big trouble with my dd.

She did Grade 6 LAMDA acting a few weeks ago. I had promised her a lift to school but was late home to take her. So she went in rushed and stressed (although her teacher said the practice run was very good).

Just heard today that she got a Merit and she's very upset. She sets herself very high standards and has got Distinction for every other grade (including 100% once).

So my question is - it is much harder to get a Distinction in the higher grades?

I do feel bad but of course there's no way of knowing that she might have got the same mark had I got her there on time.

My impression is that fewer people take the higher grades, so if a certain percentage get distinction then it will be fewer people. The report should indicate why your daughter got a merit.

Thank you. Just spoken to the teacher, dd was 2 marks off a distinction but mark sheet not yet available. However he did say he was surprised by the result, not just of dd's but of some others that he would expect a higher mark. He's going to wait for mark sheets and then possibly query some of these results. Apparently results from other examiner on a different day were all in line with expected.
