No work at work!

I started a new job recently. I was just settling in but there has been some changes and I have been relocated. There is some sort of crisis being dealt with.
The person who I am supposed to work with isn't here, although is aware I am. Somebody is sending over work from my old office but no sign of it yet.
I have very limited access to a computer.
There is literally nothing I can do.
It feels awful. I haven't a clue what's going on.
Do I just sit here staring into space?

I had that once. It felt so awkward. There was nothing to do to even try and look busy. I brought a book in.

Could you do some online courses relevant to your job? Research the industry? Email colleagues to offer your help with any tasks? Clean the office?
