How does black friday work?

Every website I go to seems to have "Early black friday" deals. But I assume these are really just normal sale items? Should I be holding out until Friday to buy the bulk of what I want in case it comes down in price? eg I'm on Oliver Bonas website and there are a couple of things I want but they're not on sale. But they have huge banners saying they're doing early black friday. So I can't quite work out - are they going to put more out on Friday or is this it?

It'll vary between companies, so it's hard to give an overall answer, unfortunately.

But I am having the same dilemma myself with a couple of sites - whether to just buy now or wait a few more days.

I am waiting, but the black Friday week deals I have seen aren't amazing for the computer monitor and ps4 I want.

Yeah I'm also unsure. Surely the point is to do it on the day but everywhere seems to have 15% off already

I think it's largely a marketing con. The only time you get genuine bargains nowadays is with end-of-range products.

Check the small print - the 'full price' has often only been charged for a couple of weeks. What you're paying is the normal price made to look like a discount.
