Woke up to a scratching, squealing sound. I went downstairs to find runny cat poo all over the living room rug 🙀🤮 I've cleaned it with hot water and laundry detergent, opened the windows wide but can't unsmell it!

Don’t you have a litter box? Shock

Bluewavescrashing · 23/11/2020 03:17

No, she let's herself in and out of the cat flap whenever she needs to go. No accidents in 11 years.

Poor cat.

The rug might need a professional clean but that’s difficult to organise. Keep windows open, even if it’s freezing. Clean the rug again and make sure cat hasn’t gone somewhere else you’ve not seen.

Put the rug outside to air out the smell might be in your nose for a bit make whoever locked the flap pay for a professional clean

Presumably the cat poos in their gardens, we get that a lot because the neighbourhood cats avoid the two gardens either side because they have dogs.
Pickpick101 · 23/11/2020 07:22

I imagine it's about the neighbours usually having to clear up runny cat pop.

PoppyOppy · 23/11/2020 08:08

Cats bury their poo.

@PoppyOppy

Cats bury their poo.
Not in my garden they don't, I find it on the lawn after seeing the cats do it.

many don't and even if they do, I don't want a cat to shit in children's sand pit or my veg patch or in the flower beds.

I think it’s better to have a litter box even if your cat goes outside. Especially now your cat is older, she may have health problems that you can recognize from toilet habits or she may not feel like going out as much. I hope the clean-up wasn’t too bad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2020 19:47

She’s 60 in human tears, I’d get a box for winter. I wouldn’t like to go out to toilet at that age.

Paranoidmarvin · 23/11/2020 19:51

My car refuses to use a litter tray. Not all of them use them.

Sparklingbrook · 23/11/2020 19:55

My cat has a litter tray and uses it all the time. Except for this morning when she thought it would be fun to do a poo just in front of it. Angry

LST · 23/11/2020 19:58

I have 3 cats. 2 go out 1 is still too young but will in the spring. You need a litter tray even if your cat goes out. I have 2 a xl one and a little one.
