Books you are waiting for the authors to write

Maybe if we cheer them on they will write them for us Grin

I would really love Kate Atkinson to write a third book about the Todd Family (after Life After Life and A God In Ruins) and I would love another Melissa Bank novel (she wrote The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing and The Wonder Spot).

I am so happy that Marilynne Robinson has written a novel about Jack (even though I thought Home was about him) and I am hoping to get it for Christmas.

Thank you writers, we love you!

Great q and I love your Kate Atkinson idea though I didn’t think A God In Ruins was nearly as good as Life After Life.

I really want Philippa Gregory to write a book in her series about Plantagenet women (The White Queen etc) about Catherine Woodville. She was a sister of Elizabeth Woodville and was married to the Duke of Buckingham who supported Richard III and was probably involved in the murder of the Princes in the Tower (Catherine’s nephews). When Richard was overthrown by Henry Tudor, Buckingham was executed and married Jasper Tudor, Henry’s uncle / father figure. So she was the wife of a key figure on each side in the Wars of the Roses.

I'm waiting for Patrick Rothfuss to bloody well hurry up and write / finish The Doors of Stone. I've been waiting YEARS.

SageMist · 22/11/2020 23:35

I was just thinking of Patrick Rothfuss too!

I can't wait for Celeste Ng to write a third novel, about anything, as I absolutely loved her first two.

nocoolnamesleft · 22/11/2020 23:37

The two obvious ones are Patrick Rothfuss and GRRMartin.

MrsDoctorDear · 22/11/2020 23:37

Terry Hayes, The Year of the Locust (follow up to I Am Pilgrim)
I actually don't even think he has started it.

Amazon have had it on pre-order for at least 4 years, date keeps getting pushed back.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 22/11/2020 23:39

The Winds of Winter, and A Dream Of Spring obvs.
The book exploring what happens in Ankh Morpork when Vetinari retires. Sad

bettbattenburg · 22/11/2020 23:41

I really need Tor Udall to write another book.

HenriettaTheHen · 22/11/2020 23:47

I am also waiting for Celeste Ng to write a third novel and Leanne Moriarty.

SadWife2020 · 22/11/2020 23:49

@MrsDoctorDear Yes yes to Year of the Locust, and to him not even having started it!

Gunpowder · 22/11/2020 23:53

Came to say Patrick blooming Rothfuss too. I don’t think he’ll ever write it. I’m hoping he’ll give up and let Brandon Sanderson do a ghost write.

Yes I was coming on to say this!

And another book from Jöel Dicker. He did the Truth about Harry Quebert Affair and The Baltimore Boys which were both excellent.

MrsDoctorDear · 23/11/2020 00:01

@SadWife2020 @Derelictwreck going to console myself by reading I Am Pilgrim for a 4th time😂

CorianderLord · 23/11/2020 00:17

Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss. I've been waiting FOR 12 YEARS.

I would be ok with this 😂
LadyofMisrule · 23/11/2020 00:22

the next Rivers of London from Ben Aaronovitch, Vinyl Detective from Andrew Cartmel, and the next mystery from Richard Osman.

Yodasdog · 23/11/2020 00:22

Yes to Patrick Rothfuss too. Although I read something that suggested he has written it but it’s being kept back as the series will be turned into a Game of Thrones style thing 🤷‍♀️

JamieFrasersSwingingKilt · 23/11/2020 00:25

I'd like Diana Gabaldon to finish Go Tell it to the Bees and the tenth Outlander novel.

lostandfound55 · 23/11/2020 00:36

I’d like another book from Gail Honeyman.

PhilODox · 23/11/2020 00:45

What a great idea for a thread!

I would like another book from Carolyn Parkhurst who wrote Lorelei's Secret.

And Terry Pratchett obviously.

Also Alastair Reynolds- I'd like another book in the Revelation Space universe.

ShopTattsyrup · 23/11/2020 00:46

I have been waiting 14 years for Jasper Fforde to finish The Nursery Crime series!! 14 years since he announced the title of "The last great tortoise race" and then ... nothing!!!

IdblowJonSnow · 23/11/2020 00:53

Agree with Kate Atkinson. Also Donna Tartt.

And yes to the final Game of Thrones although I've given up on that!

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 23/11/2020 01:03

I think The Winds of Winter will be published in the foreseeable future, maybe 2021. I’m not holding out any hopes at all for A Dream of Spring though.

PamsterWheel · 23/11/2020 01:03

I'm wishing for a 3rd Varjack Paw book from S.F Said. I read these with my daughter a few years ago and would love another.
