Home hair dye...do they work and which ones?!

Obviously bored with lockdown but also struggling to book a hair appointment for when it lifts.

I want to do a semi, make it a little bit different to my mouse brown...I was thinking a stronger orange-y colour maybe. Working from home so who cares if I cant pull it off Grin

Anyone use these home kits a lot and if so are they easy to use and do they work?! Thanks

I love Daniel Field Water Colours but it won't lighten hair if that's what you're after as it's peroxide-free. Hop over to the Style & Beauty thread for more recommendations.

I use John Frieda. It's by far my favourite as it's a mousse rather than a liquid so easier to get in nooks and crannies

Yes, but you have to use enough for your length of hair. I have short hair, so they have always been very successful, in fact once my hairdresser couldn't believe that I had coloured my hair at home!

I like Garnier Olia. I agree with PP, use a couple of boxes.

I use the pink Schwarskopf Live lightener and twist. It's lifts well and the colour hides any brassiness that would be left. I bought it at the start of the first lockdown, and didn't go back to the hairdressers for colouring, I don't think I ever will. I do my roots then drag it through half length for the last 10mins, I have a pink balayage and have had so many more compliments than when I was paying £70 for the hairdresser.

Always used clairol nice and easy. I also have short hair so always get coverage. If you have thick or quite long hair I'd get a couple of boxes.
