Hi
I'm moving into a new job soon which will use digital dictation and just wanted to chat to others who use this too. New job jitters!

I’m a “medical secretary” but my job title was changed some years ago to patient pathway coordinator. Because of the changes, I have a clinical typist do dictation from a system called Winscribe. It’s good. Easy to use and easy for managers to monitor the typists’ productivity. I like that you can put notes on the clinicians’ letters (so they can see before they approve the letters) and see all the patients’ letters without requesting the notes.

I also like that I don’t type any more, apart from if it’s urgent or too complex for the typist.

Thanks notover13! I have used winscribe previously. I thought it was easy but it was a few years back now. I'm currently managing a team who type reports too, but we are using the old tape deck system so I'm out of practice I guess with digital. I don't know why I'm stressing as I never had any issues with it at all.
I'm moving to a new role, a coordinator like you! So, as part of this I will be using digital dictation again but Medisec this time and will also be required to monitor workload/ productivity this way- this side of things will be new to me. It's really interesting (and reassuring to to hear that you find it easy to use). So far I've only had a tiny handover with the previous manager who rushed through the whole thing in no particular order so I've not even had a chance to have a play about with it myself. I'll be starting my role way after she leaves and I guess I was just seeking reassurance that even if I just get left to it, it's not going to be a particularly insummountable task.
