Scar healing advice please

I had abdominal surgery 4 weeks ago and have a 15cm scar which is healing really well however I have dry skin and itchiness around it but dont know what I can put on it to moisturise it. The wound is not open or sore at all but I don't know if I can use normal moisturiser on it or whether that would irritate it?
Could anyone give me some advice or recommendations please?

TIA

I was told to use Vit E oil (pin prick the capsules) on my scar after a hip replacement.

Any moisturiser is fine but oil based ones are better, like bio oil, Vit E, coconut oil or cocoa butter.
I always tell my patients to moisturise their scars.

bio oil is oil of snake, no clinical proof at all. Buy the cheapest moisturiser you can find to make it comfortable.

The plastic surgeon who removed a skin lesion for me a couple of years ago said any cheap moisturiser would do, for example Nivea in the blue tin, and it's the act of massaging the scar area with moisturiser that helps promote healing and diminish the scar. I have an 8cm scar on my shoulder.

I used Savlon on my gallbladder surgery scars and my lymph node biopsy scar on my neck and on DH skin graft site (not on his foot where the skin was grafted to though) and we both healed wonderfully.

Thank you all for replying, I am glad to know that there are things I can put on that aren't going to harm it. I have already got savlon and coconut oil at home, I might try to get some Vit E capsules tomorrow and alternate between them.

Thanks again:)

Hope you are recovering well.
This helped me when I had a huge scar. It is white and flat now.

As others have said, any moisturiser, twice a day and slow, firm massage.
