Help - clueless about Netflix

I would like to watch The Crown, and the new Rebecca film with Lily James. Apart from that I don't need a subscription. How can I do this?

I have a full sky subscription but I don't think that's relevant?

Thanks.

Erm you can't watch Netflix without paying, not sure what you were expecting the answer to be?

Subscribe, watch what you want and then cancel?

HopelessHarriet · 21/11/2020 14:44

I know it's not free but can I pay just to watch things as a one off?

No you can't I'm afraid, that's not how Netflix works.

You have to pay a monthly subscription. You can't buy shows one by one.

MouseholeCat · 21/11/2020 14:51

Just set up a subscription, watch the things you want and then cancel it. If you're lucky you can watch all that in a single month.

That's what we do with streaming services- we just hop between them so we only have 1 active subscription at a time.

It's £8.99 a month, so that's cheaper than buying all the episodes/movies as a one-off elsewhere.

HopelessHarriet · 21/11/2020 14:57

Ah OK thanks I thought there would be a minimum period like a year

You might be able to get a free trial, if you're dedicated enough you could watch it all within that time!!!

GnarlyOldGoatDude · 21/11/2020 15:06

We got Netflix as part of our last Sky package. Are you still in contract? If not, have a look and negotiate heavily. We almost halved our Sky bill this time (and got Sky Q and Netflix)

DelphineWalsh · 21/11/2020 15:11

You can stop/start the subscription whenever you like. I usually stop it over the summer when I'm more likely to be out of the house. I've just started it again for The Crown and the cheesy Christmas films.

AKAanothername · 21/11/2020 15:19

If you only need a single user it's only £5.99 per month and I think they sometimes do a buy one month get one month free for new subscriptions.

Can anyone tell me how to get Netflix when I've got Virgin cable? Do I ask Virgin to do it, or do something myself?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 21/11/2020 17:24

Do you have a smart TV? If so just download the app and sign up.

I'm with Virgin and have a Tivo box. Netflix is already there, in the Apps & Games / all Apps section, or on channel 204. You can't use it unless you subscribe though and you do that with Netflix, not Virgin, then once signed up, enter your username/password on the app using your Virgin remote.

Thanks. Do I subscribe to Netflix on screen, or do I contact them?

From memory you just follow the instructions on screen although it has been a while since I signed up so it may have changed

HilaryBriss · 21/11/2020 22:14

I can't remember how I did it to be honest. I think you can sign up on your PC/phone though and once done, log into it on Virgin with your username and password.
