Is there any way of stretching leggings to make them longer?

I picked DD up some matching tops and leggings yesterday only to realise when I got home that I have the wrong size as toddler was having a huge tantrum and I was rushing.

I picked up 12-18 months which will be short in the leg, I needed at least 18-24.

I went back to the shop but they don't have any others and they're sold out online.

Is there any way of me being able to stretch them so they're longer in the leg without ruining them?

Yes. But it’s not easy.

First you must soak them for 23 hours in an 8 inch clear plastic bowl filled with the tears of a unicorn. They must be happy tears only. So try to make the unicorn laugh before you collect it’s tears.

Once you have completed the soak. You need to sing to the leggings. But you really have to put a good effort in. Use your lungs. ABBA songs work best.

Finally, massage the leggings using your thumbs only and in a dark room.

Then. And only then. Can you stretch whilst damp.

Do you know anyone who can sew? I make trousers and leggings longer for my DC all the time by adding a cuff to the bottom, maybe someone could do that for you?

Keep them for PJ bottoms.

I always stretch as soon as they've come out of the washing machine and then hang them on radiator to dry. Same with jumper sleeves

I have them soaking in a wash bowl with baby shampoo, I'm going to lay them out with weights on.

I hope it works!

Will update Smile

Long socks underneath Smile

NerdyBird · 21/11/2020 18:31

Can you roll them or cut them off to make 3/4 length leggings?

MillyA · 21/11/2020 20:05

Long socks, noted! Good idea.

Nerdy, unfortunately they're winter leggings so it wouldn't work Sad I've done that with other types during the summer months though.

I've been stretching them like mad hoping for the best Grin
