@Feministicon

I thought hazel was brown like a hazelnut 😀
No Hazel eyes have green mixed into the brown
lboogy · 20/11/2020 21:17

Updated picture says brown eyes but light brown.

Honeyroar · 20/11/2020 21:22

I’d say brown too, but fairly light brown.

Fullmoonagain · 20/11/2020 22:04

Brown, Hazel has clear flecks of green or gold.

MrDarcysMa · 20/11/2020 22:16

Haze

Joolsin · 20/11/2020 22:19

Hazelly Brown!

Callcat · 24/11/2020 16:28

We fuck me I've learned something new 😂 obviously I've heard 'hazel' before but I genuinely thought it was just someone pretentiously ascribing a shade to their brown eyes. Of course eyes come in shades, but they're all variants of blue, green and brown aren't they. Come on mners, if you were to draw yourself with a crayon you'd use one of those three! I imagine a whole pile of people from this thread getting a sharp knife to scrape off tiny flecks of green and smudging it in to fully represent their special eyes. I stand by brown. One of the three basic eye colours.

difference between green and hazel

My dd has a mix of brown in the middle , then blue /grey for the main part and a dark ring round the outside.
The interesting thing about it is that i have very dark mediterranean eyes from my dad, but dm had hazels eyes. In one of the DNA sites they have a beta eye forecaster and the eye colour it said i should have is exactly my DD.

NewlyGranny · 24/11/2020 17:01

Hazel. Beautiful hazel eyes!

Scarby9 · 24/11/2020 17:03

Brown.

mocktail · 24/11/2020 17:08

Not green enough to be hazel imho. Brown!

IRunLikeJoeBiden · 24/11/2020 17:13

These threads are always about hazel eyes.

lazylinguist · 24/11/2020 17:15

The argument can't be settled, because some people think brown only means dark brown (why?) and that light brown eyes aren't brown (why?), they're hazel. But some people (including me) think that hazel means greeny brown.

Oh and for those who insist that the only eye colours are green, brown and blue...there are definitely people with greeny brown eyes (aka hazel Grin) where you'd be hard-pressed to decide they were either brown or green. And some people have grey eyes.

lottiegarbanzo · 24/11/2020 17:17

hazel / light brown

Aloethere · 24/11/2020 17:29

They look like brown to me. I too thought hazel was just another word for brown tbh. I googled hazel and brown eyes and the ones in the OP don't look like hazel to me. They look like all the brown ones.

why do people think eyes can only be one colour?,

have they never seen mixed coloured eyes. I have a friend who actually has 2 different colour eyes on blue one green (heterchoromia) and my dd has central heterchromia brown and blue/grey as mentioned above

lazylinguist · 24/11/2020 18:12

I don't know, bruffin! I guess it's not that they can't see the difference, it's just that they've decided to call greeny brown just 'brown' and that grey is somehow a subset of blue. Not sure why though.

MiddleClassMother · 24/11/2020 18:53

brown/hazel. Aren't they the same colour anywaysHmm

Clawdy · 24/11/2020 19:47

Thought hazel meant colour of a hazelnut, sort of golden brown.

lazylinguist · 24/11/2020 19:59

From Wikipedia:
Hazel eyes are due to a combination of Rayleigh scattering and a moderate amount of melanin in the iris' anterior border layer. Hazel eyes often appear to shift in color from a brown to a green. Although hazel mostly consists of brown and green, the dominant color in the eye can either be brown/gold or green.

Savourysenorita · 24/11/2020 20:04

Watery brown

HeronLanyon · 24/11/2020 20:05

I would say hazel. I would not argue about ‘brown’.

CIT80 · 24/11/2020 20:06

Hazel

CambsAlways · 24/11/2020 20:06

They are HAZEL

Elfieishere · 24/11/2020 20:07

Brown
