Kitchen counter as my desk - but it is freezing! Help!

In my spare room which is now an office, the landlord has at one point created a sort of fitted dressing table, but instead of it being wood, it is like a kitchen worktop counter.

This is now my desk, but the problem is that this worktop gets icy cold, so when I’m typing my wrists and hands get freezing.

I have tried wrist warmers but for some reason they don’t help.

Are there any more elegant options other than putting a thick towel on top of the work surface??

Something like this might help (might be better ones out there, this was the first result) Dual-Sided Multifunctional Desk Pad, 60x35 cm Waterproof Desk Blotter Protector, Leather Large Desk Wrting Mat Mouse Pad (Pink, 60 x 35 cm) www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T96QJ77/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_Yv7TFbN7Z1Y6M?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Could you get a small electric heater?

I normally hate them but you only need a short blast to start feeling there difference and they've made a huge difference while I've been working in my cold and uncosy dining room.

I do have a little gas heater which is by my feet! Honestly, the lack of insulation in this room is ridiculous. I will try putting the heater on the counter/desk though. If it works, I can always get another one for my feet!

I love those desk pads! Definitely going to try one of those. Thank you both Smile
