Hello!
I am just wondering if anybody knows if a thing I've been thinking about exists already and also, whether it seems like a good idea/ something you would use (if you have small children).
The idea is simple - an app for reading children's storybooks (on tablets mainly, I imagine) that would have a function that would highlight the words as you read them recognising the reader's speech and matching it to the words on the screen. It wouldn't be meant as a replacement for the actual book and finger approach to reading along but a supplement. I imagine it being used when travelling or when one parent/carer is not physically present, but still wants to read their child a story or have their child read them a story and have the benefit of the word being read, highlighted to aid the learning process.
Does this exist? I thought it must do so have tried googling but can't find anything that offers this functionality. If anybody knows of it existing anywhere - please do let me know. And if not (and you have an opinion) I'd like to know what you think of the idea too.
Oh and for context - I'm not positing this as a potential money making scheme/ business idea. I'm a professional software developer and looking for a "just for fun"/learning side project. I'd just rather not spend my time doing something that has been done (well/successfully) before.
Any ideas for (quite conceptually simple) tech things you've ever wished for also welcome!
Thank you!
