Please can anyone advise me about my baby's nap / sleep routine?
He is 4.5 months old. He has been having 90 minute awake windows and regular naps throughout the day. Most naps are only 30 minutes these days, but we try to stretch the lunchtime nap if we can and he is able to do a 1.5 he nap at lunchtime about 50% of the time now.
His last nap usually ends around 5/5.15pm, and then we do a 30minute and bedtime routine so that he goes to bed 2hrs after his last wake up (so generally 7.15ish.
During the 4month sleep regression he has taken a while to get to sleep (sometimes up to 1.5- 2hrs) and I pick up and put down (trust technique) until he falls asleep. After that he sleeps well.
So here is my question..
Yesterday due to stuff going on he had an extended afternoon nap and woke up at 4pm. This meant that with awake windows it wasn't possible to fit in another nap unless we pushed his bed time right back till 8.30ish. So I made the decision to skip the last nap, keep him awake and then put him to bed early. 6pm (2hrs after he woke) felt too early, so instead I did his bath at 6.10pm abs he was in bed at 6.30pm. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the mattress! And stayed asleep.
Was this fluke or should I repeat this? I.e. try to get his last nap to end at 4pm and then do bath / bed 6.20-6.30?
