Tesco Christmas ad

I've just seen Tesco's Christmas ad.

I have some thoughts. They are saying no naughty list. Ok. Don't beat yourself up because you didn't home school every day etc. Great.
Then it's buying too much loo roll. This feels a bit more problematic too me.
And then going on holiday (Santa).

The only thing they have an issue with is not donating to Captain Tom. Hmm

Am I overthinking this, or does anyone else see where I'm coming from?

I immediately saw it as a kind of 'we'll let you off, you silly old customers' feel, and was annoyed because I thought of the utterly awful behaviour some of their front line staff have been expected to take on the shop floor this year. Again, I think I may be overthinking.

Yeah. That's the vibe I got.

It felt too much like it was encouraging bad behaviour.

But I know that a) I'm a rule keeper, and b) a key worker, so this may matter more to me than others!

I took it for the light hearted advert it is Grin

It’s saying don’t be to hard on yourself not be abusive to staff and we will give you discount on your shopping
