Kids ear infection advice

I posted earlier for advice on what to play but now any tips for managing the ear infection that I might have missed?

DS is 3, ear infection started suddenly yesterday morning- doctor has seen 2x and prescribed antibiotics (taken 6 doses so far) said to manage pain with calpol and ibuprofen but they're having no impact at all and he hasn't moved off my chest ,except briefly while asleep, in 30 hours now (dr says the pressure will take the pain away)

Is there anything I'm missing? Does this constant pain seem normal? How long does it normally take to go with your children?

When DD has ear infections I used to put her ear on a hot water obviously in a cover and that helped loads.

If ypur worried I'd take him back to the Drs though.

I just came on to say the same about a hot water bottle, or one of those things that heat in the microwave. I've suffered with ear ache/infections since I was tiny and always use heat as well as pain relief. Just make sure its not too hot. And try and not let it cool down too much either. You might need to tag team with someone and 2 hot water bottles if he's lying on you.

I was a very sickly child when it came to ear infections. Heat is the best thing for it. Hot water bottle or wheat bag.
