Aldi click and collect is brilliant.

They started it at my local one this week - I didn't even know they were rolling it out.

For some reason I always find food planning and budgeting so much easier if I can do it online rather than taking a list into a shop.

Dh was the first one to use it at our local one, absolutely loads of slots available. The staff said they'd been waiting all morning to have a go, he didn't get a prize though Grin

Is so covid safe, he said they even wiped down the back door with disinfectant after they had loaded all the shopping in.

Just thought I'd say incase anyone lives under a rock like me and didn't know they were doing it.

My local one aren't doing it :( I'd love to try it as Aldi is great!

sausagerole · 19/11/2020 13:42

Another one who'd love to try but local haven't rolled it out yet

mommybear1 · 19/11/2020 13:43

I really hope our local Aldi starts this it would be great!

MadisonAvenue · 19/11/2020 13:44

I hadn’t heard of this, just checked and the nearest store doing this to me is around 15 miles away. I hope that they’ll expand it to more stores.

TheSpottedZebra · 19/11/2020 13:46

It's just starting at the one near me. Very exciting!

Wasall your shopping available?

CastleOfDoom · 19/11/2020 13:54

Ooh I'd love to get an Aldi c&c.
I don't like buying a load of stuff in the actual shop as I can't throw it in the trolly quick enough at the checkout, so I only ever get a few bits Grin
Our local one is not doing it yet though.

WankPuffins · 19/11/2020 14:02

@TheSpottedZebra yes absolutely everything!

@CastleOfDoom yes, Dh couldn't wait to try it as he hates getting the shopping chucked at him in the store!

It's £4.99 for a slot at the one nearest to me. That's quite expensive for c & c

JumpingJamboree · 19/11/2020 14:29

I am very excited for this. I always end up buying so many extras from the middle isles, so hopefully this will stop additional spending. I went shopping today and noticed my Aldi had two brand new click and collect parking spaces but it isn't available in store yet. Hoping it will start in the next week or so!

WankPuffins · 19/11/2020 14:51

@Comefromaway yes that is the one drawback.

But I figured that because we spend so much less on the shopping in Aldi vs getting click and collect from Tesco and Sainsbury's, we are still better off paying £4.99

We must check to see if our nearest is doing it. We always shopped in Aldi until March and I miss lots of things from there, particularly at this time of year.

Guiltypleasures001 · 19/11/2020 15:27

I used it this week, the site is a bit of a mare to use to be honest
Unless you already know what you want
Hopefully they can iron out the niggles so it's a bit slicker
Son works there Grin

sausagerole · 22/11/2020 11:51

Agree about the price being worth it - when I shopped at Aldi (before baby) I always used to need to pay for a taxi home, but the saving from shopping there was always way more than what I paid in taxi fare so always worth it. It's more that it just doesn't work to lug the baby around anymore!

zenasfuck · 22/11/2020 11:59

We used it at our local store on Friday. Absolutely fantastic service, very well run and they will load your shopping in to the car for you. The shopping is brought out in bags and they trolley contains wipes too for any cross contamination

Both staff members were wearing masks and adhered to social distancing

I am very impressed. I have shopped at Aldi for years but had to deal to Tesco since March as I've been shielding.

Even with the 4.99 C&C charge, my usual 120 pound Tesco shop was 65 at Aldi

H1978 · 22/11/2020 12:17

How would you know if they do it in your local? Is there anything on the website please?

CastleOfDoom · 22/11/2020 12:35
