Recommend me a blind/window dressing for a large window

Our lounge window currently has vertical blinds (like office ones), then we have floor length curtains either side. The window itself is framed in a white wooden cornicing type thing.

I removed the curtains to launder them and am really enjoying having the white woodwork visible. But I hate the blinds.

I want to put something nicer up at the glass for privacy but I need to be able to open/close so people dont stare in. A simple roller blind wouldn't suit as I can't have anything in between either completely closed or completely open.

We've had wooden slated horizontal blinds in a previous house and they are such dust magnets.

Can anyone recommend? What do you have up at your lounge window?

We have the horizontal slat ones, the dust magnets. Pale wood and I ignore the dust for a year at a time Grin Sorry not to be helpful but I found them best for showing the window frames and getting privacy when wanted. Also have curtains with a wall mounted hook so can pull them right back to show some of the frame, and take the curtains down in summer.

We had sheer roller blinds for years. Our were from IKEA. They worked well. They let lots of light in but you can’t see in from outside.

I'll have a look at a sheer roller. I always think with a roller blind that keeping it closed was a bit "go away sun!" But a sheer one sounds interesting.

Funnily enough I'm contemplating taking the curtains down for the winter, but it summer the glare would shine on the tv.

We’ve got Venetian blinds in our bay window and a voile panel in front to soften it a bit. I damp dust them and a few weeks ago, we dunked them in the bath.
