Alternative advent calendar

Thinking of doing a alternative advent calendar for myself maybe one thing a day for foodbank.
Or... Declutter one thing a day.

I'm sure there's lots of other ideas that will have a positive impact instead of buying more tat.

Hit me with them! Anyone else fancy doing this?

I do kindness elves with my kids, so they have a kindness challenge every day of advent - some are just simple like say 3 kind things to your sister before bedtime, some days the elves bring eg craft stuff and they make cards for a local nursing home, or baking stuff and they bake cookies for the neighbours (won't be doing that this year!). You could do something similar with more adult challenges like buy the person behind you in the queues coffee, donate something to charity etc

Love those ideas. I could definitely get the kids involved too.

There's nothing wrong with having lists or plans for good deeds, but it's not an advent calendar. You need to separate the two.

One year we made a food bank advent calendar, so behind each window was an item. Bought it all at the start then each day DC/we had to find the item and place it in Xmas wrapping paper covered box.

I was thinking this year of taking photos of presents friends have given me and posting one a day on Facebook. Have bought a local charity calendar that has offers from local businesses behind each window.
