Advice needed quickly! Can I travel from Wales to England to collect my daughter?

So many rules, and Wales' and England's rules seems quite mutually exclusive.

Basically, DD is quite unwell (mental health issue) and wants to be home. She'll be coming home from uni anyway soon. Am I allowed to collect her?

I'm in Wales, she's 2 hours away in England.
I thought with caring duty/ bubble /extended household it may be alright? Don't want to be doing the wrong thing or get into trouble Sad

Thanks.

If it was my daughter I would be doing this and sod what the rules may or not be ! That said I think rules allow for this kind of thing. Hope your DD gets care she needs x

That is an essential journey and therefore acceptable under all rules. Going to get her because, for example, she was bored wouldn't be allowed.

Who will you get into trouble with? There are no border guards between Wales and England, and as she's obviously unwell and needs to be out of where she currently is, then just do it.

Bollocks to the rules. Go and get her.

audweb · 17/11/2020 15:21

You’re caring for someone, go get her and don’t worry about the travel.

ballsdeep · 17/11/2020 15:21

I would. I hope she's ok xx

TotoroPotoro · 17/11/2020 15:28

You wouldn't be breaking the rules of she was unwell. Get her.

User415373 · 17/11/2020 15:28

Yes. I cross the border every day to care for my sister.

crankysaurus · 17/11/2020 15:30

Pretty sure caring, including for mental health, have been included as exceptions to restrictions this time round. I'd be going to get her.

JustCallMeGriffin · 17/11/2020 15:34

Am I allowed to collect her?

Yes. That's quite clearly an exception. Hope she feels better soon.

CaffeineAndAlcoholFree · 17/11/2020 15:45

Thank you all so much.

I'm off to get her now.

Care of a vulnerable person is an exception to the rules. Hope she is ok.

Horsemad · 17/11/2020 19:04

Just go and get her.
